# **About Us** We are a homeschool group with a very specific purpose and structure. Our vision is to ### **Help each other become who we are meant to be.** ![><](file-guid:4431e8c0-f75d-4dee-8d67-53e9f491fcac "JSA_about us 2.jpg" =300x200) We do this by offering Leadership Education support for an individualized, natural and purposeful education. We are an established commonwealth which creates an organized and long-term structure for members to govern themselves. We also focus on building strong relationships that support students and parents through their homeschooling journey. Jefferson Scholars Academy is a registered 501(c)(7) non-profit organization. # **Schedule** We meet weekly on Thursdays from 10-2 at a church building in Springville. Our school year runs on a quarter system from September through April. Families attend together with classes for all ages from nursery all the way to young adults. Classes are organized by natural phases of learning. See our [Classes](https://jeffersonscholarsacademy.com/index.php?r=custom_pages%2Fview&id=3) for more information. We hold additional events throughout the month to promote strong relationships and ongoing education. See our [Calendar](https://jeffersonscholarsacademy.com/index.php?r=calendar%2Fglobal%2Findex) for more information. # **Leadership Education** Leadership Education (also known as Thomas Jefferson Education) is all about helping an individual to discover their own genius and empowering them to live their own unique mission. It also teaches students _how_ to think and not _what_ to think. Throughout history there are several principles that hold true to quality self-education (Inspiring, Classics, Mentors, etc). When these principles are cultivated alongside the natural phases of learning, an individual experiences real, lifelong, purposeful learning. We use a constitution to keep things organized, have accountability and stay in line with the original vision of the commonwealth. We hold a short monthly meeting to conduct the business that keeps the commonwealth running smoothly. At these meetings our members vote on any changes to our constitution in a way that allows members to be heard and respected. Members take turns serving on the board of directors and receive training relevant to their position. A commonwealth obtains its permanent structure by moving through phases according to the readiness of its members. Readiness is based on understanding the vision, culture, constitution, educational philosophy, government structure, etc.
